Congratulations to the Newly Elected CLRA Alberta Chapter Directors!

The CLRA Alberta Chapter would like to welcome and congratulate Diana Dunn, Reclamation Coordinator with CNRL and Angela MacKinnon, Indigenous Engagement Manager with Tree Time Services Inc. for being elected as Directors!

We would like to thank all seven of the candidates who put their names forward for the CLRA AB Board positions. Diana and Angela will work alongside the executive team and continuing directors for a two-year term starting on April 1, 2023.

Diana Dunn, Reclamation Coordinator with CNRL

Diana Dunn is a Reclamation Coordinator with CNRL with over 19 years in the environmental field primarily in reclamation and remediation coordination. She has worked for multiple producers in her career since 2002, which started as a co-op student for Nexen Inc. She has coordinated projects in the Oilsands, Southern Alberta, and Saskatchewan, with the last 12 years of her career mainly focused in British Columbia, which included implementing the new Dormancy and Shutdown Regulation into action at Ovintiv. She also has regulatory experience coordinating major facility permits, waste management, environmental audits, facility soil and groundwater monitoring and management programs. In her spare time you can find her doing things outside with her family, likely on a mountain bike.

Why would you like to join the AB CLRA Board?

"I understand the importance of providing opportunities to share information to continue the growth and betterment of our industry. The group of practitioners in Alberta is second to none and I would be proud to be part of helping provide those opportunities to our membership."

Angela MacKinnon, Indigenous Engagement Manager with Tree Time Services Inc.

Angela is the Indigenous Engagement Manager for Tree Time Services joining the team in 2021. Angela has an Environmental Management Certificate from the University of Calgary, an Advanced Surface Rights Certificate and Petroleum Contracts and Admin Certificate from Mount Royal University.

Between 2005 and 2020, Angela worked in the environmental and upstream oil & gas industries focusing on land, environment/reclamation, and indigenous relationships. Since 2014, she focused on Indigenous relations and reclamation projects. Angela built and fostered strong relationships with Indigenous partners by attending cultural camps, site visits, having constant lines of communication, and by having a genuine desire to learn.

Through outreach and engagement, Angela has fostered and maintained a strong presence and lasting relationships with our Indigenous partners. It's with these special relationships that she is learning about how we can marry Indigenous knowledge and Western science to steward the land. The aim is not to replace Western science with Indigenous knowledge but rather to complement and strengthen it with what Indigenous peoples have learned over thousands of years of caring for the land.

Why would you like to join the AB CLRA Board?

"Since joining CLRA in 2015 I have been able to build a tremendous network of amazing environmental professionals. Seeing everyone's passion for the land trough collaboration has been inspiring. The AB CLRA Board is creating spaces for likeminded professionals to get together and when that happens true change can happen. I wholeheartedly support the CLRA mission to; advancing, promoting, and celebrating the profession of reclamation through collaboration, education, and engagement with our members and the public.

Which makes my desire to join such a dynamic board easy. When you can find an organization, whose values align with your own it's a win-win."
