Introducing the Andrea McEachern Memorial Scholarship. The award honours Andrea McEachern and will be awarded annually to a candidate that exemplifies volunteerism and initiative in the reclamation/remediation industry.

Practitioners managing sulphur impacts experience challenges related to site assessment, monitoring, remediation and reclamation. InnoTech Alberta, Matrix Solutions and S2 Environmental co-proposed a project and are now working on behalf of a 4-member industry committee to investigate these challenges.

The Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Land Reclamation Association (CLRA) will be hosting its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Conference in Red Deer, Alberta from Thursday, May 3 - Saturday, May 5, 2022.

Congratulations to Dr. Bob Pett for receiving the 2021 IN-TECH Reclamation Award. Dr. Bob Pett has 42 years of experience in environmental research, management, and training in Canada and abroad (including 17 years with NS Department of Public Works).

CLRA National 2021 Linda Jones Memorial Award Recipient: Brandon Williams

Brandon Williams is a biologist and ecologist that completed his undergraduate degree in Alberta. He is now completing his graduate studies at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. His work examines the use of prescribed burning as a tool to shift an agronomic grass dominated tailings storage facility located at Highland Valley Copper mine to a native grassland community. Outside of academia he has experience in environmental consulting as a biologist. Brandon is committed to the reclamation and restoration of ecosystems to ensure the maintenance of biodiversity and ecosystem services for future generations.
