LAND RECLAMATION AWARDS
You
no doubt have colleagues whose work in the field of land reclamation deserves
to be widely recognized for its excellence.
Each year, there are two awards presented at the CLRA/ACRSD Annual
Meeting. The first of these is the
Noranda Land Reclamation Award and the second the Dr. Edward M. Watkin Award.
The
Noranda Land Reclamation Award is the most prestigious award given to
honour excellence in reclamation in Canada.
Recipients of this award have made outstanding contributions in the
areas of professional practice, teaching, research, and/or regulating authority
as they relate to the profession of land reclamation in Canada. They are widely recognized for their
contributions in the field of land reclamation spanning a significant portion
of their career. The award is from
Noranda Inc., with the recipient recommended by the CLRA/ACRSD Noranda Land
Reclamation Award Committee. Recipients

The
Dr. Edward M. Watkin Award is presented by the CLRA/ACRSD in recognition
of major contributions to land reclamation in Canada and/or to the advancement
of the CLRA/ACRSD. Recipients of this
award have also made major contributions
in the areas of professional practice, teaching, research and/or
regulating authority as they relate to the profession of land reclamation in
Canada, but they do not necessarily span a major portion of the recipients’
career. The recipient may also have
made major contributions to CLRA/ACRSD
which have led to the advancement of the Association. The recipient may be either an individual or an institution. Recipients of the Dr. Edward M. Watkin Award

Over this
winter, please take the time to talk with your colleagues and send in
nominations for the Noranda Land Reclamation Award and the Watkin Award. As noted on the enclosed detailed
information for each award, the nominations must be submitted no later than
June 30, 2000. Nominations received
earlier will, of course, be appreciated! Remember,
this is one of the few means available to recognize excellence in the
profession of land reclamation. |
